"This book was well written with clear, easy to read information. My husband and I read this book together before our trip to Paris last month. It was helpful as far as getting an understanding of the geography and history of various areas of the city. However, we found that some specific recommendations made in the book were outdated or incorrect. There was some mis-information about a hotel that we considered as well as the public transportation options. Overall, we felt this book was helpful for understanding general Parisian facts and culture but for restaurant, hotel and transportation advice, I would consult an agent or a reliable and current website."

• Even after I saw the negative reviews, I still purchased this guide and I am glad I did. The pages are no thinner than any other guidebook that has been made. My advice is to disregard the negative reviews below. Guides have always been made with lighter paper because they contain an assortment of valuable information, and this guide is meant to be carried with you on your travels with minimal weight. The information, paper and materials of this book are great and very clear to read. The font on the other side of the page does not bleed through, unless your intentially trying to get it too (just like any book). This book is a valuable resource to have and highly recommend. It even includes a fold out map, a must for any true traveler. I even picked up the French phrasebook also my Rick Steve's, that one is amazing as well.
• I purchased the version and it is fantastic like all of Rick Steves other guides! We're going to Paris next year and I checked several different guides at my library (they didn't have Rick Steves available) but the way the guides were presented was just a mass of confusion and I couldn't figure out how to plan my time there. Finally I just purchased Rick's guide and after reading and taking notes cover to cover, I now have a clear plan for our 5-day Paris trip. He lays out everything so it makes sense and planning is a breeze. Thank you Rick Steves!
• This review is not on the content of the book as I have not had a chance to read it. The paper is so thin, more thin than newspaper and I can see the pages ripping very easily. Also, the text bleeds through the other side because of the transparency of the paper. Never saw a book printed like this before.
• I travel a bunch and I love Rick Steve's books. The little touches of humor are great, and the guides are always very easy to follow and up to date. The paper is thin (noted by other reviewers) but the same as all of the Rick Steve's guides. This is how they put 400+ pages in and is still small enough to fit in your carryon.
• The other reviews complaining of thin pages are silly. You can read the pages just fine. Given a trade off of thin pages vs the weight of heavier paper stock, I would opt for the weight consideration any day.
• I used to think of a travel guide as being a long list of hotels, restaurants, and sights to see, with a little practical advise about changing money, carrying your passport, etc. thrown in. Not exactly exciting reading. I was thus surprised to find that those topics account for only about 100 of this guide’s 700 pages, with the balance providing in-depth descriptions of various areas of the city, structured as about 20 different walks, tours, or guides, including coverage of the most of the major sites. We also have themes, including Paris in the off-season, Paris at night, Paris for children, and Paris for teens, shopping in Paris, and day-trips away from Paris. All sorts of details are hidden in those guides, such as where to find the best jazz clubs, best rich shopping areas, best not-so-rich shopping area, where to avoid the tourists, where to find the tourists, where to find the red-light district, and on and on. My favorite is a map with directions given in French that you can copy and hand to a cab driver to get a custom nighttime tour of good sights, including a short list of directions you might want to give to the driver, in French. (The guide consistently gives correct pronunciations of all French words and phrases.)
  
  This is a guide that treats the reader as being at least half-intelligent, providing a satisfying depth of information about the context of the various sights, always presenting it in a light and entertaining way. The authors have a knack for summarizing the essence of a famous person or place in just a few sentences. You may not fully agree with their perspective on some of famous artists, but may also learn something new about them. You’ll pick up much about European history and culture from reading this guide and it is likely to appeal in particular to anyone with a love of history.
  
  I’ve taken a couple of trips to Paris in the last two years, and everything this guide had to say about places I have seen squares with my own experience. The three authors seem to all be Americans, and this is a guide from an American perspective, with irreverent American humor aplenty. They provide useful suggestions about how to get along with the French, in spite of being an American tourist. (Not that hard, in my experience, if you follow their basic suggestions, on page 7. ) Their writeup on France Today, pgs 629 - 632, is also helpful in understanding the French.
  
  The authors convey their love of this city, and are able to show you why this is one of the planet's most special places, one often rated as the best tourist destination by experienced travelers. I enjoyed the guide so much that I wound up reading it cover-to-cover (though going quickly over lists of hotels and restaurants), even though my next trip is not for a month. I would recommend that for anyone, starting to read it a couple of months before you head out. This guide has obviously gone though multiple revisions and I feel that it's done just right.
  
  In the end, it is an enjoyable guide book, not literature, but it's better than it needs to be and worth reading just for enjoyment, even if you think you know the city well. If you are headed to Paris, have recently come back, or just thinking about going, you are likely to find this book a delight.
• We had a quick visit to Paris recently and we picked this up prior. This book was indispensable for us. It gave you up to date info on the numerous site, hotels, and travel around Paris. I know with this book we are ready for our next visit to Paris. We found restaurants, bakeries, popular places to see and visit that we had not heard of. A great purchase!

Dans ce court laps de temps, je devais donc trouver une dizaine d’inspecteurs chevronnés, motivés, et prêts à en découdre avec les pires brigands de Paris. Si la grande guerre avait mis un frein à l’activité criminelle, celle-ci reprenait de plus belle cette année. La bande à Bonnot avait malheureusement fait des émules. C’était le cas notamment du Serbe, un homme sans doute d’origine slave, entouré de voyous sans scrupules qui sévissaient dans toute la région parisienne. Les exploits de cette bande faisaient les choux gras de la presse, ridiculisant la police, et plus particulièrement la 1ère Brigade.
Oui, j’étais fier d’avoir gagné la confiance de mes supérieurs, mais j’étais loin d’imaginer à quel point les enquêtes de la 2ème Brigade Judiciaire dite des Crapouillots allaient bouleverser ma vie.

• I probably didn't look at the product dimensions when I bought it, because it's actually pretty small, but for our wedding guestbook it's perfect. I love the design and and the soft cover. • I adored Sara's debut, THE LAST THING YOU SAID, and I ~hoped~ her follow-up, COLD DAY IN THE SUN, would be equally fantastic. Wow, was it ever. I absolutely adored this YA hockey novel full of amazing music references, yummy food mentions, and steamy kisses. It puts its own spin on two of my favorite tropes (hate-to-love and secret romance) and its ending is incredibly satisfying, but open-ended enough to feel realistic. Holland is an amazing protagonist--a hockey badass with a passion for the Foo Fighters, blogging, and her family. Love interest and hockey team captain Wes is super sweet, but also he swears all the time and accepts nothing but the best from the players on his team, including Holland. COLD DAY IN THE SUN was nearly impossible to put down; I think fans of YA romance will LOVE this book. <333
• I loved everything about this book!!! The romance is oh-so swoony and heart-stingingly sweet! The characters are wonderful. I just finished reading, and I already miss them! I adored the setting! And there were some wonderful and important messages about feminism and the inequality women face in sports. Officially my favorite book of 2019 so far!

• One of the sweetest most realistic enemies to romance books I've read in a long, long time. Also, one of the best stories of how tough it is to navigate feminism and opportunity as a young (or even older) woman and coming to terms with how the world see you a result.
  
  Also Foo Fighters and there's never anything bad about that!
• This girl-on-the-boy’s-hockey-team story is anything but fluffy. There’s a romance that’s 🔥🔥🔥, and it gets you right in the gut. I read this book in less than a day that’s how much it hooked me. Oh, and there’s an unabashed love for rock, so 🤘
• I LOVE THIS BOOK! The strong female lead is both hard as nails and sugar soft as she falls in love and challenges the status quo. This book means a lot to me personally as the only girl in a family of all boys who has always worked to separate herself from what was expected of her to do what feel true. If you love deftly written romance, great dialog and an emotional, gripping story, you will love this book.
• Loved this book! Not only does it have multiple intriguing story lines, but it perfectly highlights the struggles and advancements made with women in sports, and sprinkles in an adorable love story that hit home for me and my hockey-playing husband!
• "Let's be honest. At the moment, I've got bigger things to worry about than a straw stuck up a sea turtle's nose."

  Cold Day in the Sun takes place during the winter, but it really warmed my heart! It was impossible not to smile while reading this book, and I really loved Holland's story. She was a fierce female character who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. When someone told her she had balls, she was quick to tell them that a person doesn't need balls to do something brave. I loved her personality, and that she was willing to fight for what she wanted.
  
  Yes! Yes! Yes! Holland had an awesome family, I enjoyed all of their interactions. Hunter wasn't around as much, but his comments on her blog, and his brief appearance, really spoke volumes about their relationship. Carter was a typical big brother, and didn't want anyone to mess with his sister, but he also knew she could fight her own battles. Jesse was hilarious. I'm pretty sure he's referred to as a "diva" at one point. Her mom and dad, even her grandparents, are around and supportive. It was amazing and lovely!
  
  Then there's Wes. Sweet, beautiful, infuriating Wes. He doesn't treat Holland any differently on the ice, and he pushes and challenges her like he would any of the other players. I was a little annoyed when Holland didn't see this (she thought he was picking on her for being a girl), so her reactions were a little extreme. She wanted to be treated like everyone else, but got upset when she was. Off the ice, Wes was attentive and intuitive. He's understanding and thoughtful, a wonderful big brother, and he wasn't afraid to tell people how he felt. I really loved his relationship with Holland and how it progressed over time.
  
  There was so much to love about this book, and I think it's the little things that I enjoyed the most. Wes encourages Holland to try eating spicy foods, and tells her it's just like training for a new sport. You have to practice, which she does, and those were some of my favorite moments. The way Wes reacts when Holland bites her lip, and the way he talks about her to other people -- always kind and proud of her accomplishments. Holland's blog and her obsession with music (that Wes happily shares), and their shared text messages that are more music videos than words. Also, Holland loves to eat, and I love that she loves food.
  
  All of the secondary characters were fun and meaningful, and I wouldn't mind another book with this setting! I want to know more about everyone. As I got to the last page, I read it and immediately wanted more. It was a perfect ending for this story, and I'm still smiling as I write this, but I definitely could have enjoyed a few more chapters! Thank you, Sara Biren. You've kept a smile on my face for days. It was ducking adorable. 😉

• I read a fair about of crime fiction and am very picky about my detectives. I'm happy to say I am now a fan of Nils Shapiro! He's a fun mix of Elvis Cole (Ellegaard is reminiscent of Joe Pike) and Cormoran Strike, two of my faves. Think a full helping of snarky wit with a true north compass. And just for fun, he works in a decidedly unglamorous setting. We explore not Hollywood or London ... but Minnesota! Can't remember the last time I read a book that discussed various kinds of winter clothing!

Le commissaire Velcro, qui vient de rejoindre la P. J. de Rennes, est dépêché sur les lieux. Heureuse surprise pour lui, Déborah, une collègue qu’il apprécie particulièrement, est elle aussi missionnée dans le département car un acte de vandalisme a été commis sur le site de la Vallée des Saints à Carnoët.
Ils décident donc de mutualiser leurs compétences afin de résoudre ces deux affaires au plus vite. Si la gentillesse de la diva fait l’unanimité, certains témoignages surprennent Velcro et l’enquête promet d’être difficile.
Quel lien entre le meurtre de la diva et la destruction de la statue ? Il semblerait que ce soit l’art car voilà que Céline et Stravinsky s’invitent à leur tour dans le jeu pour brouiller encore un peu plus les cartes tandis que le commissaire se découvre des liens avec Kundera lors de son installation à Rennes.
Le contexte de leurs investigations est décidément inhabituel et il faudra le flair de Velcro et la subtilité de Déborah pour démêler cet étrange imbroglio…

Deux enquêtes, sans lien apparent, mais qui semblent étroitement liées... Accompagnez le commissaire Velcro et Déborah dans cette aventure aux multiples rebondissements !
